The compatible Brother IntelliFax 1940 CN black cartridge that I Refilled is not accepted by the printer
Your printer contains memory storage information for up to 5 cartridges.
Meaning that the machine "remembers" the ink levels for as many as the last 5
cartridges that were in it. These memory slots sometimes need to be
cleared out in order for the machine to accept a previously used cartridge:
- Take the cartridge out of the machine and unplug the machine for at least 30
seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the outlet to power up the
machine.
- Once the machine is fully up again. Place the cartridge
back into the machine.
- These steps may have to be repeated up to 5 times to
remove each of the cartridge "memory slots".

If your machine is still not accepting the cartridge, the
final idea would be to contact Brother for assistance:
- If the other ideas on this page have failed, you may have to
contact Brother directly to get an answer. Their philosophies on
"resetting" ink levels are in some cases - industry secrets.
Brother has introduced models into the market place that now require their
expertise, specifically, to get them to work properly. The contact number
we have on file for Brother is 1-800-276-7746. You will want to let
them know that you have a cartridge full of ink that is not being accepted
by the printer, and inquire on how to get it to work.
