The Ink-Level Indicator on the 51640 (HP 40-Black) cartridge that I Refilled isn't working
If the machine is reading the cartridge as not being full, you might be able
to adjust the ink level indicators:
- In most cases, the machine will allow you to print regardless of the value of the ink level
indicator. If it does allow you to print, you can monitor the prints to see
when the cartridge needs to be refilled again. They will start to
print out lighter when the ink is running out.
- If you want, or need, to reset the ink level indicator for your HP
cartridge,
the instructions that we currently have available can be found By Clicking Here
- If you have a Dell cartridge, you will want to remove the cartridge
from the machine and then reinsert it. The machine should generate a
prompt that asks if the cartridge is a new cartridge. You should
always reply that the cartridge is indeed a new cartridge. This will
reset the ink level indicator for the machine. If you are not given
the opportunity to tell the machine that the cartridge is new, you can check
your owner's manual to see if it has a way to reset the ink level in it for
a new cartridge. If it does not, the machine should still allow you to
print regardless of the ink level indicator status.
