The 3483B001 cartridge that I Refilled is printing poorly or not at printing at all

If you are getting dark Vertical Stripes down the page when you print:
  • Something (moisture: etc.) may be on the drum (green, pink, or blue metallic bar that runs the length of the cartridge).  This can be cleaned off with a soft bristle brush (i.e. paint brush). NOTE: Be careful, the drum can by damaged by being exposed to direct light.  For this reason, you will want to do this activity away from direct light.
  • If there is a noticeable scratch on the drum, the drum will need to be replaced.

If all, or part, of the printed page is faded/light:

  • Something may be on the drum (green or blue metallic bar). This can be cleaned off with a soft bristle brush (i.e. paint brush).
  • Drum could have been exposed to direct light. Direct light can damage a drum rendering it useless.

If you are seeing smudges, or unwanted lines, on your prints:

You may need to purge out the cartridge's waste hopper.  This hopper is where excess toner, which is a normal part of the printing process gets discarded.  If it is full, the waste toner can not fit and gets 'pushed' back onto the printed page. The waste hopper is generally opposite of the toner refill area.  Some of these hoppers are fairly small in size.

1.     Make a hole that will allow you to purge the waste toner hopper.

2.     You will now want to empty the waste toner out of the cartridge.  Make sure that you have trash area prepared to dump the waste toner.  With the purge hole facing down, work the loose waste toner out of the hopper.  The goal should be to remove the loose waste toner in this hopper.  You can use duct tape, a plug, or our aluminum tape to seal the purge hole.  In any case, you must make sure that the movable shutter that protects the drum is not going to catch on your sealed area in any way.

  • Once you have confirmed that the movement of the shutter is not hampered in any way, the removal of the waste toner in the hopper is complete.

  • If you are having difficulty locating the waste toner hopper please contact us at (866) 465-7334.

  • There may be a chamber on the side of the cartridge with a sliding door, or tab that opens up the waste toner hopper. Open it up, dump the waste toner in this chamber over into a wastebasket. Print should go back to normal, after this area is emptied.

NOTE:  The waste toner hopper may also be located in your machine. It can be removed, and poured out. Refer to your owner’s manual to find the exact location.
