The compatible 1380493 cartridge that I Refilled is leaking
It is normal for a cartridge to leak for up to an hour after
refilling it! These cartridges need some time to stabilize.
- Typically, the printhead will settle again and close back up. You
can see if this is the case by wiping off the excess ink on the printhead
with a paper towel and trying to print with the cartridge in your
machine once the leaking has stopped. If it does print, then the
cartridge has settled and you will be able to continue to use it.
- If the cartridge will not operate in your machine once the leaking has
stopped, the printhead may be damaged. There is no repair for this
situation and another cartridge is going to be required.
NOTE: To reduce the amount of leaking in
the future, make sure that you do not force the ink into your cartridge while
you are refilling. After getting the needle into the cartridge, pull it back out a little before you try to inject the ink into the cartridge. The cartridge should take the ink with very little effort on your part. Continue to inject the ink as you gradually pull the needle out of the cartridge. Take your time and allow the sponge to expand.

If your cartridge is leaking the bulk of the ink out of the cartridge after you
have completed all of the refill steps, it could be that the cartridge has been
sitting empty for too long. The internal sponge may not
be able to soak up the ink.
- If the sponge is no longer viable, there is no repair for this and you will need a new cartridge.
